I finally got around to watching Evil Dead Rise last night and have mixed feelings. Maybe I’ve just seen too much horror but I didn’t think it was particularly scary or gory - and it didn’t add much new to the Evil Dead lore apart from maybe confirming the tree books are different which was a nice nod to AOD and helps keep Evil Dead 2013 in the same continuity. And it gives us a new proxy for Ash/the chosen one which could one day lead to a crossover with Ash and Mia. Otherwise I thought the film was pretty unremarkable and my least favourite ED entry.
